First day FDM Inversionseminar with Marjorie Kasten in Osnabrück

On the first day of the FDM Inversion therapy Seminar of Marjorie Kasten PT in Osnabrück, Germany Marjorie Kasten showed FDM techniques with the Peanut- Ball (Erdnuss- Ball), the Invertrac und FDM techniques with the Masterplumber. Marjorie Kasten PT met the founder of the Fascial Distortion Model (FDM), Dr. Stephen P. Typaldos, in November 1996. Since she was treated successfully with the FDM, she herself began to practice and develop together with Dr. Typaldos FDM technique variations and FDM tools. Marjorie Kasten is the author of the FDM Inversion book "Which way is up when you are upside down".

It is the first time that a FDM Inversion seminar takes place in Germany. One week before Marjorie Kasten taught a FDM Inversion seminar in Wien (Vienna).
The FDM seminar takes place in the Steigenberger Remarque Hotel in Osnabrück. It is suited in the old town of Osnabrück and has been awarded for its gastronomy. It is named after the pacifistic writer Erich Maria Remarque, who was born and grew up in Osnabrück.
In this FDM Inversion therapy seminar Marjorie Kasten answered (along with the FDM techniques) questions from the participants to the FDM treatment of long standing injuries. She gave the FDM participants tons of information resulting from her long years of experience working with Dr. Stephen Typaldos and working with Inversion therapy in the FDM.

Marjorie Kasten showed videos from tests with Crash Test Dummies in car accidents to make clear what kind of forces affect the human body and his folding fascia even in "minor" car crashes.
After that she showed anatomical pictures of folding fascia to give the partcipants a better and clearer impression for what the folding fascia is used in daily life and how it can be distorted by external forces.
After the theoretical part Marjorie Kasten PT showed some FDM techniques with the Masterplumber. She demonstrated unfolding techniques with the Invertrac and the Peanut- Ball by treating participants.
It was very impressive how a long standing lack of movement would improve in minutes with a specific Plunger technique combined with the forces used through the Peanut ball or the Invertrac.
In the practical part the FDM seminar participants were very enthusiastic in trying out the FDM techniques from Marjorie Kasten with the FDM tools.

But Marjorie Kasten also reminded the FDM therapists of the contraindications and relative contraindications for Inversion therapy. She shared her experiences over the years where FDM Inversiontherapy would not work or even may cause some symptoms like fainting.
After the break in the afternoon Marjorie Kasten treated a patient with pain in the lower back while standing or sitting. In the anamnesis she told Marjorie Kasten that she had a fall, a vehicle accident and a rib injury.
Just working with the Plunger changed dramatically the pain and lack of movement of the patient. After the FDM treatment of the triggerbands and a bull´s eye the patient became Inversion therapy with the Invertrac and Hallelujah technique.
Finally she could move better and said she felt really good.
Before the end of Day One of the first Inversion therapy seminar in Germany, Marjorie Kasten did a lecture on Flexion Inversion therapy, ReFolding Therapy and showed a patient video from her FDM clinic in Bangor, Maine. She mentioned again the importance of a good and accurate anamnesis to get necessary information if Inversion therapy could be contraindicated.
As an introduction to Re- folding therapy (rFD) Marjorie Kasten shared her own history on refolding injuries and showed the Re- folding therapy with compression in sitting. She talked about her experiences with special activities or professions which are often related to Re- folding distortions.
The first day ended up with a possibility for questions just as if it is possible to treat patients with Inversion therapy after spinal stabilization surgery or a coccyx fracture.
The class ended with standing ovations to Marjorie Kasten for the Inversion seminar. Also honoured were the translator Jenny Parkinson and the man who organized the seminar and made this special event possible in Osnabrück, Markus Nagel.
In the evening the group had a common dinner in the old town of Osnabrück and discussions about the FDM, patients and Inversion therapy.
